What is Divaology?

What is Divaology?

Let's first define the word "diva". Answers.com website refers to the term "diva" as a word that was originally used to describe a woman of both rare and outstanding talent. It goes on to say the word "diva" derived from an Italian word "divina" which means "divine", which in turn derives from the feminine form of the Latin word divus/diva meaning "divine one". And according to Answers.com website"ology" means a branch of learning.

The purpose of my blog "Divaology" is to encourage, inspire and motivate women. I feel as women we should stick together. Life require many responsibilities of us as grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts and more. Our diverse roles as parents, wives, lovers, partners, girl-friends, friends and confidants all play a major part in what makes us who we are. We are charged at birth with the responsibility of developing, growing and learning through out our lives how to exist and evolve as females.

As children we are as my good friend Sheri in Memphis says, "d.i.t.'s i.e., divas in training". There are many in's and out's that the female gender toil through in order to develop "divalocity". Divalocity by my definition is the style, composure and make up of a diva. Basically, divalocity is about what makes us who we are as divas.

Once upon a time the term "diva" was referred to as a musically talented women as observed by Time Magazine's October 21, 2002 issue, according to Answer's.com website. Later the term "diva" was referred to as having a negative connotation commonly used to describe one who is arrogant having an unfriendly persona. However, I see the term "diva" in a totally different light.

By my definition, I refer to the word "diva" as having a positive connotation. I refer to myself as Ms. D.I.V.A. My definition of this word is one who is a

It's okay for women to own the term "diva". I encourage my fellow sisters to express their "divaism"-the act of being a diva (by my definition) by way of being "divacious". I define the term divacious as meaning one who has a diva spirit. We must assert to positivity. Be proud of the inner strength, endurance and virtuosity that naturally inhabits us as the "female" gender.

I encourage you to be comfortable in the skin you're in. No matter what color, creed, ethnicity, origin, culture, size nor shape. Know that as women we can be everything and anything we want to be. For we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. I believe that our faith in God when we pray, and ourselves when we put our faith to work by demonstrating our prayers by doing and becoming whatever we desire can move mountains.

May you have a blessed "Divarrific" Day!
